A glitch with the new Wake County Schools student assignment web site means a do-over for some parents.

Parents were alerted about the problem in an email.

The district said a software issue did not provide families with the ability to see the specific high school pathway for the middle school they were requesting for their child.

The district has since fixed the problem, but some parents need to re-rank their choices.

The deadline for parents to confirm their choice is Friday, Feb. 24, the initial deadline for the selection process.

The site went live in January.

More than 2,200 families made their school choice in the first 60 minutes online. There was so much traffic all at once that some parents couldn't get on the site.

The selection process runs again from March 19 to April 9.
