Huge turnout at murdered man's funeral

DURHAM

The 74-year-old retired firefighter and wrecker company owner was found murdered in his Durham home in the 4400 block of Regis Avenue shortly after 10 a.m. on Monday.

Friday, legions of tow truck drivers, firefighters, and law enforcement officers came to his funeral.

"Durham shut the roads down for this guy. He's got a lot of friends. He's been around for a long time. He's a very nice guy," explained Michael Beasley with Dave's Tow Away.

So far, there have been no arrests in the case.

"The way he died, it's just sad that somebody lives to be 74 years old and then somebody murders them," explained friend Cindy Bayes.

Anyone with information about the murder is asked to call Investigator West at (919) 560-4440, ext. 29341 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
