Two killed in Durham house fire

DURHAM, N.C.

The fire broke out around 9:30 p.m. on Davidson Avenue.

When fire crews arrived, smoke was seen coming from the home. Officials said they found a man and a woman dead inside the house. Their names have not been released.

Neighbors told ABC11 the two were mother and son.

"Plain old respectable people. She got along good with everybody. So did the son! Dean, he was likeable. Walk up to the store, get a newspaper, cup of coffee for himself and his mother, bring it back to the house," neighbor Clarence Trice said.

There is no word yet on what started the blaze.
