Family, friends remember slain Fayetteville teen

FAYETTEVILLE

Ashton Foxx, 16, was gunned down last Thursday.

Students, teachers, family members, friends and coaches filled Westover High School's gym to honor a big personality, and what many say was a great talent.

Beyond celebrating the teen's life, there was a very serious message that had to do with saving our youth from senseless violence.

"I encourage you today to say to God you'll do the right thing and to make sure this stops happening and we do not lose another Ashton to this nonsense," said Evangelist Carolyn Pope.

Foxx, a rising junior, was a member of the Westover Varsity Basketball team. His number, 25, has been retired.

Police arrested 23-year-old Tabari Hashim for Foxx's death.
