It happened just before 1 a.m. Wednesday near Rim Road and Castle Falls Circle.

Police did not immediately identify the dead driver.
Rim Road was blocked off between Castle Falls Circle and Gooden Drive as authorities worked to clear the scene.
The Fayetteville Police Department Traffic Unit is in charge of the investigation.
