Brother-in-Law of San Bernardino Shooting Suspect in 'Shock'

The brother-in-law of one of the suspects in the massacre in San Bernardino, California that left 14 dead Wednesday said he was in "shock."

Farhan Khan, who said he was the brother-in-law of Syed Farook, told reporters he "cannot express how said I am for what happened today" during a press conference with the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

"I am very sad that people lost their lives," he said.

Around 11 a.m. local time, a group of gunmen opened fire inside the Inland Regional Center, a facility that helps those with developmental disabilities. There was a holiday and work function for the San Bernardino Department of Public Health going on at the time, officials said.

Police said that the suspects were heavily armed with assault rifles and handguns and appeared to be "on a mission."

Two of the suspects -- a man and woman -- led police on a pursuit and died in a gun battle. Farook, 28 and a woman with whom he was in a relationship, Tashfeen Malik, 27, were identified by police early Thursday morning as the suspects.

The motive for the attack remained unclear.

Some 14 people were injured in addition to those killed.

"I wish speedy recovery to them," Khan said.

"I have no idea why he would do that."
