Tropical Storm Debby leads to school closures, delays in the Triangle area | LIST

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Orange County Schools (OCS) announced that it will be closing again on Friday due to the impacts of Tropical Storm Debby.

OCS officials said the closure is due to the ongoing and potential effects of the storm, including widespread power outages and road hazards throughout the county.

Durham Public Schools will also be closed on Friday due to the extended flood warning caused by the storm.

School officials said all after-school activities and athletics are also canceled.

The Wake County Public School System announced on Thursday that due to the storm, all schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Friday, August 9.

Reporting school closures

Due to the threat of inclement weather, some schools and businesses may decide to close. You can check up-to-the-minute closings here.
