Now, airports across the country are on a mission to increase the price you pay to them.
Airport executives say they need more cash to improve terminals and build new runways. They say the federal government isn't filling the money gap to help them do it.
Every time you buy a plane ticket, you pay a facility fee to use the airport.
Congress caps that amount at $4.50. Airport executives are pressing lawmakers to hike that to as much as $8.50.
Even if Congress increases the cap, that doesn't mean every airport will charge the $8.50 maximum.
