RALEIGH, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Hundreds of senior citizens across the country are receiving special Valentine's through Visiting Angels.
"Visiting Angels is a national non-medical home care provider," explained Stacey Sokol, Visiting Angels Community Liason.
"We do realize that seniors can be lonely around Valentine's Day," Sokol said.
"Especially if they are widowed or if they live alone so we like to surprise them with a bouquet of flowers.
Studies have shown flowers increase a person's happiness and decrease their depression very much," she said.

For Judy Durham in Wake Forest, Visiting Angels delivered flowers, candy, and a teddy bear. Durham has been using the service for three months after a leg surgery.
She loves the personal help with everything from running errands to light housekeeping. She loves the special touch even more.
"I will enjoy it a great deal," Durham said. "It was so kind of them to do this for me.
It was just an example of what they do, I've had so many of the ladies come they take me to the doctor. They just take very good care of me," she said.
Sokol hopes the program will help remind others to think of senior citizens often.
"We hope by promoting this program it will help individuals to remember their senior neighbors on Valentine's Day and other special holidays," Sokol said.
