"As a coach, no one has more passion for basketball. No one understands its history or serves it more earnestly. And certainly, no one prepared better or taught the game at a higher level. While this is a tremendous loss for our sport, it is something Coach Knight wanted at this point in his life and as he's consistently done, he handled it in his own way."
"The 902 victories, three national championships, and countless All-Americans are only a part of his coaching legacy. He has reached the pinnacle of basketball, both at the collegiate and international levels, and his influence is felt every single day on a broad scale. We should all be so lucky to have such an impact on so many in any given profession. As one of the premier leaders inside or outside of athletics, he should be treasured in our sport. It is difficult to imagine Coach Knight away from the game and I hope that the leadership within our sport utilizes such a brilliant basketball mind in an effort to elevate our game even higher."
