Firefighters were able to keep the flames contained in a top level apartment at the top of one building. They say sheet rock kept the fire in one room and there was little spread into the attic space. The complex does not have a fire sprinkler system.
No one was hurt.
The apartments were evacuated while the fire raged, but by 5 a.m., most residents were allowed back into their homes. The two families who lost their homes are getting help from the American Red Cross.
