Teen struck by car in Apex

APEX, N.C.

Police say the 13 year old was struck by a Buick Enclave about 7 p.m. in the westbound lanes. They said the teen's mother was stopped in the westbound lanes and was either taking pictures of the teen or vegetation when the teen was struck.

The teen was taken to WakeMed for treatment of cuts and bruises. ABC11 was told she underwent a CAT scan and was conscious and talking.

The Buick was driven by 49-year-old Francis Bacon. Police said Bacon was driving well below the posted speed limit for Olive Chapel Road.

There's no word if any charges will be filed.
