WakeMed's top brass showed up at the Federal Courthouse in Raleigh Tuesday afternoon for a hearing in front of Judge Terrance Boyle.
Boyle has criticized a deal between the hospital and federal prosecutors over allegations that that WakeMed overbilled Medicaid.
He characterized the deal for fines and restitution totaling $8 million as a slap on the wrist.
The judge said he would take the case under advisement but didn't indicate when or what he would decide.
