FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (WTVD) -- Sunday, the family of 78-year-old Arthur Brown gathered for his funeral at the St. Augusta Missionary Baptist Church on Bridge Street in Fuquay Varina.
They had to hold it at St. Augusta rather than Brown's regular church because of the expected crowd. The church was packed, standing room only, full of people from all over the community, including Mayor John Byrne.
Last weekend, family members found both Brown and 66-year-old David McKoy dead in their home on Howard Rd. Investigators and family tell ABC11 the two had been shot. Their deaths are being investigated as homicides.
While much of Brown's funeral was full of laughter and a celebration of his life, his son, Kenny Brown, did make a plea for justice.
"I implore you please, everybody out there, to the news media, if you know anything, please do not keep it to yourself. Please share it with law enforcement because I don't want anyone to feel the pain the spirit of loneliness that I feel right now," he said.
The Wake County Sheriff's Office says the investigation is ongoing but did not have anything new to release on Sunday.
McKoy's funeral was also held at St. Augusta on Saturday.
