LAKE GENEVA, Wis. -- Drivers are having that sinking feeling after the ice gave way under their cars in Lake Geneva, Wis.
Several cars started to sink into the lake Saturday afternoon while they were parked on the ice for Winterfest. No one was in the vehicles and no one was injured.
Darien Schaefer, president of Visit Lake Geneva, which organizes Winterfest said that 10-12 vehicles fell through the ice and are being pulled out.
Schaefer said they don't encourage people to park on the ice and there is plenty of other parking available including a free shuttle from a nearby Home Depot.
However, parking is allowed on the ice at the boat access point to the lake for ice fishing.
This is the 21st year of the resort town's winter festival.
