Cary murder victim laid to rest

SANFORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- Family and friends said goodbye Saturday to a nurse who was murdered in Cary last week.

Wendy Johnson's funeral was held at New Hope Baptist Church in Sanford.

A private burial followed the funeral.

Johnson was gunned down in the parking lot of a Cary apartment complex parking last Friday.

Search warrants say 36-year-old Daniel Remington Jr. was trying to steal her purse, and shot Johnson when she tried to stop the robbery.
