Hundreds attend community service for Chapel Hill students
RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The Islamic Center of Raleigh was packed again on Saturday when hundreds attended a service for the three Muslim students killed in Chapel Hill this week.
Deah Barakat's father, Namer Barakat addressed the large crowd. Barakat said he was exhausted, but extremely thankful for everyone's support. He said his goal is to make sure his son's name lives on.
"Our biggest thing is to really keep his legacy going," said Barakat. "I am going to get involved, in time, with that. I'm sure a lot of people with help as well. Thank you for all of your support."
All of the victims worshipped at the Islamic Center of Raleigh, where hundreds of people came together for the public service.
Some people brought flowers and offered them to the students' families.
"These are young college students, with their lives ahead of them and it's just sad," said Raleigh resident Quincy Brown. "We all love them. I love them and we're a community and that's what a community does, we stand together."
