PIKEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Pikeville couple facing child abuse charges have turned themselves into authorities.
A statewide alert was issued for 21-year-old Christian Amanda Tomeski and her live-in boyfriend, 27-year-old Thomas Strickland on Wednesday. Both are accused of physically abusing Tomeski's 2-year-old son.
A pediatric clinic tipped off investigators after noticing bruises on the child's head, ears and neck.
Both Tomeski and Strickland acknowledged that they were the only two caregivers for the child between March 1 and March 13, but denied harming the boy.
The couple later surrendered to law enforcement and were each released from jail under a $500 bond.
The toddler is currently with his grandfather.
