Cold setting in, flurries spotted across the region
Temperatures will plunge into the upper teens and low 20s tonight with clearing skies, the coldest so far this season (which isn't saying much since Dec was so warm). Wind chills could be in the teens this evening.
Sunny but cold tomorrow, a lot of spots stay in the 30s.
Warmer by late week.
Light flurries were spotted across the Triangle, with the biggest activity to the north near the Virginia state-line. No accumulations are expected.
Despite plenty of bright sunshine in most areas, temperatures will barely get above 40 degrees this afternoon.
Tonight will be clear, and much colder, with a hard freeze throughout the region. It will be the coldest night since March.
Low temperatures will be down in the lower 20s and wind chills could drop into the single digits.
"High pressure will remain in control of our local weather through tomorrow and Wednesday," says Don "Big Weather" Schwenneker. "High temperatures will be mostly in the 30s tomorrow afternoon and then recover into the 40s on Wednesday afternoon."

Meanwhile, to our west the mountains are seeing their first snowfall of the year.
The weather is being blamed on several accidents and multiple Western North Carolina school districts are closed.
Later this week we can expect the rain to return to the Triangle as a storm system makes its way east. Schwenneker says the result will be more clouds for us from Thursday into the weekend, with the best chance for rain on Friday.
