CUMBERLAND COUNTY (WTVD) -- A Cumberland County couple is facing charges after authorities said they found illegal drugs inside the home they shared with their 4-year-old child.
Following an investigation, Cumberland County sheriff's deputies went to the home of 28-year-old Stephen Morgan and his girlfriend, 30-year-old April Hales Thursday night.
When deputies searched the home in the 2600 block of Keats Place in Fayetteville, they allegedly found 22 marijuana plants, which were split up between two indoor growing stations that were equipped with fans, grow lamps, exhaust vents, thermometers and electronic timers.
Authorities seized eight glass jars -- each containing marijuana -- with a combined weight of 330.13 grams. The street value of the drugs confiscated is $30,000. They also seized several firearms.
One of the weapons was found in the master bedroom with a loaded magazine that had one round of ammunition in the chamber, according to authorities. The gun was not equipped with a trigger lock and was lying where the child could have picked the handgun up.
Numerous glass smoking pipes, a triple beam scale, shears, and clippings from marijuana plants were found on the kitchen table.
Authorities also said the rest of the house was littered with trash, dirty dishes and ash trays, which made it difficult for deputies to move through the home.
Morgan and Hales face charges of possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling, conspiracy to sell marijuana, and misdemeanor child abuse.
Morgan was taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center and placed under a $5,000 unsecured bond. Bond for Hales has not been set at this time.
