RALEIGH -- Over 8,000 customers were without power in North Raleigh for over an hour Tuesday due to damage to a transmission line, according to Duke Energy Progress.
It appeared a transformer explosion in a residential area on Bridgeport Drive, off Creedmoor Road, could have been the issue. Residents reported hearing an explosion before losing power around noon.
The outage impacted the areas around Glenwood Avenue near Pinecrest Road and Creedmoor Road to Lynn and Leesville roads. The areas near Duraleigh Road to Ebenezer Church Road were also impacted.
Power began to slowly return by 1:30 p.m.
