Durham church celebrates centennial with 100 balloons

DURHAM, North Carolina (WTVD) -- A Durham church is celebrating a big anniversary in a big way.

Members of the West Durham Pentecostal Holiness Church celebrated its 100th birthday by releasing 100 balloons with a Plan of Salvation attached to each balloon.

Pastor Greg Long said their prayer was that the balloons reached people that needed a message of hope.

The church, located at 901 Alabama Avenue, was established on Sunday, Feb. 12, 1917.
