DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham City Manager Tom Bonfield said he will "personally" lead a two-month review and evaluation of concerns of racial profiling among the police department.

Earlier this year, Durham's Human Relations Commission reported it found racial bias and profiling in the police department's practices.

It presented the department with more than 30 recommendations.

Bonfield said he will also meet with each advocacy organization that's taken a part in the process so far as well at the city attorney's office.

"I take the concerns raised by the community as well as those raised by advocacy groups very very seriously and recognize the necessity for a trusting relationship between the Durham Community and the Durham Police Department," said Bonfield.

Bonfield said the review will take about 60 days. He expects to present a report at a work session on Aug. 21.
