Police trying to solve 2010 murder of college student
Police and family members canvassed the neighborhood with flyers looking for tips

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WTVD) -- The Fayetteville Police Department says it hopes a new push for information in a 2010 cold case will bring in some new clues.

On November 7, 2010, Alexander Green died when two gunmen started shooting at a house party at 2112 B Elvira Street. A woman was shot in the leg.

Green was a student at Fayetteville State.

Wednesday, police and Green's family members went out into the neighborhood to distribute flyers asking for tips in the case.

"Please. If it was your child, you'd want someone to help you," said Green's mother Tamera.

Police said they're trying to bring some closure to the family.

"That's probably the most frustrating thing is knowing there is information out there, knowing somebody somewhere probably knows something, and we want them to take the time and reach out to us and try to help us out a little bit," said Detective Michael Hardin.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Hardin at (910) 391-2529 or Crimestoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477). You can also submit information to Crimestoppers by visiting http://fay-nccrimestoppers.org and completing the anonymous online tip sheet or by text-a-tip on your mobile device by sending a message to 274637 (in the text box type "4Tip" followed by your message).
