Man turns himself in in Fayetteville sex assault case

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A man turned himself in Tuesday in connection with a sex assault that happened in February.

Fayetteville police said Edward Lee Alexander, 46, of the 500 block of Anson Drive, turned himself in at the Cumberland County Detention Center.

He was charged with second-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping for an incident that happened on Feb. 4. The 24-year-old victim was an acquaintance of Alexander's, police said.

The alleged assault happened in the area of Pamalee Drive and Murchison Road.

Alexander is being held on a $75,000 secured bond.
