NEWTON GROVE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A three-alarm fire damaged a Sampson County farm equipment business Friday evening.
Firefighters worked to keep the fire at Hog Slat in Newton Grove from spreading to the rest of the business, which does metal fabrication and roofing.
Company officials said the fire broke in an older wooden building on the back side of the property.
Officials believe the fire started in a storage area. Company officials say damage inside is extensive.
"The building has got significant damage," said company spokesperson Lamont Thornton. "It's an older building, not one of our main facilities anymore. We had one machine there, and it was in a different area. It's fine."
Thornton says eight employees in adjacent buildings all got out safely.
There's no estimate of damage.
The company plans to resume full operations on Monday.
