CHICAGO -- First Lady Michelle Obama spent the night on the town with her daughters, taking in one of the biggest concerts of the summer. Beyonce and Jay Z stopped in Chicago on their On the Run World Tour Thursday night.
Mrs. Obama, Sasha and Malia then returned to the family's Kenwood home at around midnight.
Before the concert, the first lady stopped at Sunda restaurant in River North, where she snapped a picture with owner Billy Dec.
Michelle Obama's visit to her hometown was split between fun and politics. The first lady attended Democratic National Committee fundraiser with more than 100 people at a Gold Coast hotel first on Thursday.
She asked donors to dig deep and write checks for Democrats running in the mid-term elections, saying that electing Democrats would help make a better future for children. Mrs. Obama spoke for about 20 minutes at the event.
Donations ranged from $500 to $20,000 per person.
No details have been released on the rest of Michelle Obama's Chicago stay.
But Republicans will have their own fundraiser on Friday
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is in town. He will headline an event for Bruce Rauner, the GOP candidate running for Illinois governor.
