I-40 east reopens at Rock Quarry Road

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Traffic has resumed flowing at a normal pace on Interstate 40 at Rock Quarry Road as all lanes have reopened Tuesday afternoon.

Interstate 40 eastbound was shut down at Rock Quarry Road for more than an hour after Raleigh police responded to a report of a young woman in distress on the Rock Quarry Bridge over the interstate.

Traffic was backed up and vehicles were diverted off I-40.

Raleigh police said later that the 16-year-old is safe and and is being evaluated.
