SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The body of a woman discovered inside a burning home in Sampson County Sunday night has been identified.

Just before 8:30 p.m., authorities received a call about a fire in the 100 block of Irvin Road in Autryville after a neighbor spotted the flames.

Multiple fire departments responded to the scene to extinguish the blaze, which appeared to have started in a bedroom.

Fire crews later found 56-year-old Cheryl Jackson dead inside the home.

Jackson's sister-in-law, who lives across the street and was Jackson's caregiver, said Jackson's five rescue cats also died in the fire.

The cause of the blaze is undetermined, however, authorities have said there was no indication of foul play.

Autryville is about 15 miles east of Fayetteville.
