UNC plays Friday, N.C. State plays Saturday in Super Regionals

In Monday's decisive game, the Tar Heels jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first only to see the Tigers knot it up at 2 with a run in the first and second innings.

After Jared Jones homered for LSU in the bottom of the third, the lead stayed at 3-2 through eight innings.

Down to their last inning, the Tar Heels tied the game when Colby Wilkerson singled in Gavin Gallaher in the top of the ninth.

The teams are now in extra innings with the Tar Heels leading 4-3 in the top of the 10th thanks to Alex Madera's single that scored Jackson Van de Brake from second.

The season was on the line for both UNC and LSU as they took the diamond for a spot in the super regional in the NCAA Baseball Championship.

Carolina beat LIU on a walk-off grand slam in the team's first game of the regional. The team then proceeded to beat LSU in its second game. However, after LSU advanced through the loser's bracket, the Tigers beat UNC 8-4 Sunday.

Josh Pearson and Hayden Travinski on LSU hit home runs. Steven Milam had a two-run single in a four-run fourth inning to separate the Tigers from the Tar Heels.

East Carolina fell short in the winner-take-all game Monday against Evansville.

The Pirates lost 6-5 in a back and forth game that saw both teams lead for multiple innings.

This is the second time Evansville, the lowest seed in the Greenville Regional, beat East Carolina. The Purple Aces started the tournament off with a victory over the Pirates on Friday.

Evansville will now travel to Knoxville next weekend to play a best of 3 against the No. 1-ranked Tennessee Volunteers (53-11). The Vols swept their regional and are favored to make a deep run in the College World Series.

Alec Makarewicz batted 2 for 4, homered and drove in a pair of runs and North Carolina State beat James Madison 5-3 on Sunday to claim the Raleigh Regional and advance to the super regional of the NCAA Tournament.

For the sixth time under Elliott Avent - and the second time in the last four years - the Wolfpack (36-20) are off to the super regionals. North Carolina State will travel to face Georgia who won the Athens Regional.

N.C. State's Matt Heavner led off the fourth inning with a hit-by-pitch, Noah Soles walked and Eli Serrano's sacrifice advanced the runners. Garrett Pennington flied out then Makarewicz was intentionally walked. Then, Jacob Cozart and Brandon Butterworth each drew walks for NC State's first two runs.

The Dukes' Mike Mancini responded with his first solo home run of the game in the bottom half of the fourth to reduce the deficit to 2-1. Makarewicz countered with a solo homer in the sixth before Mancini hit a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth to make it 3-2. At bats by Makarewicz and Mancini generated runs in the eighth before Noah Soles added an insurance run for the Wolfpack with a leadoff solo home run in the top of the 9th.

Macini filled the stat sheet for James Madison (36-25) with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate that included the two home runs and 3 RBI.
