
County, city municipal services closings and reopenings
As expected, many city and county governments decided to close on Monday after the snow.
Here's a list of announced closings (Listed in alphabetical order). The list now includes updated information from Tuesday, as available, including services reopening or remaining closed.
Burlington

The City of Burlington will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday for non-essential employees and to the public.
Solid waste routes: Monday collection will take place on Tuesday. Tuesday collection will take place on Wednesday. Both Tuesday and Wednesday collections will start two hours late.
Thursday and Friday collections will remain on their regular schedule.
The e-waste collection event will still take place on Saturday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at 234 E. Summit Avenue (Public Works Parking Lot).

Burlington City Council regularly scheduled Work Session for Monday has been rescheduled to Feb. 16, beginning at 5 p.m. The Tuesday City Council Meeting has been canceled.
There will be no yard waste collection this week.
Cary

Cary Town Hall and all staffed facilities will return to normal operations on Tuesday. The Citizen's Convenience Center will reopen at 8 a.m.
Curbside collection is delayed one day this week.
GoCary will end service at 5 p.m. Monday. Fixed route and Tier 1 Door to Door service will resume at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Tier 2 and Tier 3 door-to-door service will remain suspended.
Crews have treated intersections, primary and secondary streets, and gone into neighborhood streets and cul-de-sacs based on curbside collection routes. While conditions have improved significantly, drivers are reminded that slick spots may still exist, particularly on shaded roads, bridges, and neighborhood streets.

Chapel Hill

Crews plowed primary roads on Sunday and plowed secondary roads Monday.
There was no Solid Waste pickup on Monday.
Chapel Hill Transit is adjusting routes on Monday:
Routes starting at 10 a.m.: B, J, FCX, JFX, NS, U, RU, S
Routes starting at 12 noon: A, C, CL, CM, CW, D, HS, N, NU, T
Routes not running today: F, G, CCX, 420.
The Tar Heel Express will run Monday night,
Transit is scheduled to begin modified service at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
CCX, F, G, and 420 routes will not operate.
On Tuesday, Town facilities will operate on a delayed opening (11 a.m.). The Caldwell Street Housing Office is scheduled to open at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
The food distribution that was rescheduled to Tuesday is canceled. The next food distribution is scheduled for Feb. 11.
There will be no Solid Waste pickup on Tuesday. Crews will collect Monday's trash on Wednesday and Tuesday's trash on Thursday this week. They also plan to collect Thursday's yard trimmings on Friday and cancel Friday's yard trimmings collections this week.
Parks and Recreation facilities are scheduled to open at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Chapel Hill Public Library is scheduled to open at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Any programs scheduled to happen before 11 a.m. will be canceled.
All Parks and Recreation facilities are closed Monday. The Chapel Hill Public Library and book drop are closed. All programs are canceled.
Town Hall is closed Monday as is the Caldwell St. Housing Office.
Chatham County

Chatham County Government offices are closed on Monday and will open on a delay Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Cumberland County

County offices, the Court system, and County-operated warming centers will open at noon on Tuesday.
The Board of Commissioners rescheduled Regular Meeting will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
While many primary roads have improved, rural roads remain icy and hazardous in some areas.
White Flag shelters and warming centers will continue operating with the following schedule adjustments to support individuals in need during ongoing cold weather conditions. Emergency transportation to shelters will remain available as long as road conditions allow.
White Flag shelters will not operate Tuesday. Warming centers will not be open Wednesday.

Durham County

Durham County Government will delay opening non-essential offices on Tuesday. Most County offices will open at 10:30 a.m.
Northern and Parkwood Solid Waste and Recycling Convenience Sites will follow the Durham County Government schedule and delay opening on Tuesday. The Redwood Convenience Site will remain closed.
The collection route for Monday for unincorporated Durham County residents has been rescheduled to Wednesday. Recycling collection for Tuesdays will be collected on Tuesday, starting at 8 a.m.
Roads must be clear before collections can resume.
The Durham County Department of Public Health will follow the Durham County Government schedule and delay opening on Tuesday.
For Public Health emergencies during delayed openings or closures, including communicable disease reporting, environmental health, and suspected foodborne illnesses, please call 911 and ask for the Durham County Department of Public Health's response team member on-call.
The Durham County Department of Social Services (DSS) will also follow the Durham County Government schedule and delay opening on Tuesday.
All Durham County Library locations will delay opening on Tuesday. All library locations will open at 11:30 a.m.
All Durham County Courthouse operations are delayed on Tuesday. This delayed opening will affect all District and Superior Courts, Clerk of Court, and Durham County Sheriff's Office business office functions, resuming normal hours at 10:30 a.m.

Fayetteville

Fayetteville city offices will open at noon on Tuesday.
Solid Waste services will focus on household collections this week. Residents are encouraged to place carts at the curbside by 6 a.m. Solid Waste crews will pick them up as quickly as possible. No yard waste will be collected this week.
Fayetteville Area System of Transit services will begin at noon and will operate on a Sunday schedule, meaning services will be limited. There will be no services operating on Routes 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 19, 31 and X1.
Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation facilities and gated parks will open at noon. Recreation centers will act as warming centers until 7 p.m. All FCPR recreation centers and facilities will close at 7 p.m..
The Day Resource Center will operate on a delayed schedule, opening at 10 a.m. and closing at 5 p.m. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Lunch will be provided from noon until 1:30 p.m.
Street crews have been working continuously along with NCDOT, assessing and treating the roadways throughout the City. It is important to note that shaded and elevated areas, including bridges and culverts, could still present extremely slippery conditions, and residents need to take extra caution when driving.
Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads.
Fayetteville City government offices are closed Monday.
The scheduled City Council work session and special meeting for Monday have been rescheduled. The work session has been rescheduled for Friday at 2 p.m. The special meeting is canceled, and all agenda items will be added to the meeting scheduled for Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m.
Garner

Town of Garner offices and facilities will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The Town Council meetings will take place as scheduled, including the 6 p.m. regular meeting.
Public Works will assess conditions at Town parks and determine when it is safe to reopen them.
Residents on Tuesday-Friday solid-waste routes should follow their regular collection schedules as crews work to catch up. There was no trash and recycling collection on Monday.
Town facilities and parks are closed Monday. All Town activities and events, including the Groundhog Day Celebration, are canceled.
Franklin County

Franklin County will operate on a 2-hour delay for all non-essential services on Tuesday.
Essential staff will report as department leadership advises.
Franklin County offices were closed Monday.
The Franklin County Board of Commissioners meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday will be postponed until 6 p.m. Feb. 9.
Moore County

Moore County Governmental Offices are closed Monday but will reopen Tuesday at 11 a.m.
The Moore County Landfill will open at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The Aberdeen and Hillcrest Collections Site will be opening at 8 a.m.
All other Collection Sites will be closed Tuesday and reopen Wednesday.
Moore County Library Branches will be closed on Tuesday.
Moore County Transportation will be closed on Tuesday.
Activities and facility at the Senior Enrichment Center will be closed on Tuesday. Activities at Moore County Parks and Recreation are canceled for Tuesday.
Raleigh
Raleigh Parks facilities will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The Weatherbound Program is ready to help kids out of school enjoy a fun, supervised day filled with games, crafts, and active fun.
The cost is $40 for residents and $55 for non-residents. Locations are Abbotts Creek, Brier Creek, and Jaycee.

Rolesville

Town offices will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday. Town Hall is closed Monday and will open at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
GFL announced that there will be a one-day delay for trash collection in Rolesville. Yard waste collection will also be delayed by one day this week.
Public Works department staff are out clearing town-owned roads and parking lots. NCDOT will clear the roads it owns (i.e. Main Street and Rogers Road).
Rolesville police officers said most primary town roadways are clear and passable. However, several secondary roads remain covered with ice because of shaded areas, including Granite Falls Boulevard, Pulleytown Road, portions of Rogers Road, and Jones Dairy Road.

Sanford

The City of Sanford's administrative offices will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
GFL Environmental will start collection at 10 a.m. with Monday's route and operate on a one-day delay until all residences have been serviced.
it is recommended that Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday routes place carts at the curb on their regular schedule. Do not move carts until they have been serviced.
Additionally, GFL has placed two dumpsters at its office at 410 Gunter St., for City residents to dispose of trash if needed. All trash must be bagged. There is not an option for recycling.
The City of Sanford's leaf, limb, and bulk trash collection crews will start with Tuesday's route and operate on a regular schedule for the week.
Buzzline Microtransit will start at 10 a.m.
The greens will remain covered at the Sanford Municipal Golf Course while freezing temperatures persist.

Wake County

Wake County offices are closed all day on Monday.
Essential services, such as EMS, emergency management and fire services will remain in operation, though responses may be delayed.
Monday's Board of Commissioners meeting will be virtual and livestreamed.
Wake Forest
Wake Forest Town Hall will open Monday at noon.
Wake Forest Center for Active Aging and Meals on Wheels will be closed Monday.
All Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) facilities will be closed Monday, including Joyner Park Community Center, Flaherty Park Community Center, Alston-Massenburg Center, and Wake Forest Community House.
Wake Forest Renaissance Centre will be closed Monday.
Republic Services will not operate on Monday, so this week's trash and recycling routes will be collected one day later than normal and extend into Saturday. So, (for example) Monday's route will be collected Tuesday and Friday's route will be collected Saturday.
Yard waste collection will be suspended Monday.
Go Wake Forest will resume service Monday at 10 a.m.
Wayne County
