Surprise proposal during halftime at Cary High School

CARY (WTVD) -- Halftime usually means watching bands and cheerleaders, but one lucky couple had everyone cheering them.

Amber Batchelor got the surprise of her life when Cary High baseball coach Brian Yerger got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

Her response? Going right into his arms.

It all happened at a basketball game against Apex Friendship on Friday.

Yerger, who has been at the school for a number of years, also teaches American history. Students say he cares about his students and players and always tries to get the best out of them while still having fun.

One student said he "absolutely, 100 percent" deserves the happiness his new fiance brings to him.
