WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- Wake Forest police are warning parents to be on the lookout for a suspicious duo targeting young kids.

Investigators say the pair have been seen in two Wake Forest neighborhoods, talking to children along Samuel Wait Lane and Lariat Ridge Drive.

The men are reportedly offering rides to kids and asking about a missing kitten.

Wayne Sadlowski's 8-year-old daughter was approached last week.

"It's obviously very scary," said Sadlowski. "She was walking to her friend's house and she got to the corner and a car came down the street. When it got to her, it stopped. And there was a man driver, who out the window said to her, 'Do you need a ride?"

Dad says his daughter starting running from the men.

"She ran behind the car across the street to her friend's house," said Sadlowski. "We've had conversations since then and we dodged a bullet. You can do what you can do and be vigilant, but there are bad people out there."

The individuals are driving a silver or gray four-door SUV that is damaged on the passenger side and missing the passenger side mirror.

The passenger of the vehicle is described as a white male between the ages of 18 and 24-years-old with blonde or brown hair, wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses. The driver is simply described as a white male.

Anyone witnessing or experiencing suspicious activity is urged to call the Wake Forest Police Department (919) 554-6150.
