MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Officials in Catawba County say the bodies of a missing swimmer and one of three divers who went into Lake Norman to search for him have been recovered.
Local media outlets report the other two divers involved in the search were taken to an area hospital. The extent of their injuries wasn't immediately known.
The divers were from Sherrills Ford-Terrell Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Chief Rick Davis identified the diver who died as 28-year-old Bradley Long.
The initial search was prompted when the 29-year-old missing swimmer jumped off a boat and into the lake with two other people on Sunday. Authorities said the boat wasn't anchored and began to drift away. Three of the men swam back to the boat, but the missing person disappeared beneath the lake surface.
