The Thrift Shoppe Trail begins Saturday, Dec. 19, and runs through the end of January. Shoppers get a card with all the thrift stores taking part in the trail. Each time a customer stops into one of the eight participating thrift stores, they receive a stamp for that store. Once four stamps are collected, it means savings.[br /][br /]Thrift stores from eight Durham and Orange County non-profits are taking part including:[br /][br /]The Scrap Exchange - Durham[br /]Pennies for Change - Durham[br /]Durham Economic Resource Center[br /]Durham Rescue Mission - Durham[br /][Ads /][br /]TROSA - Durham[br /]The Salvation Army - Durham[br /]PTA Thrift Store - Carrboro and Chapel Hill[br /]Club Nova - Carrboro[br /][br /]"Every time they get four stamps, they'll be able to turn that card in at any store for five dollars off a 10-dollar purchase," said Jeff Stern of the TROSA Thrift Store in Durham.[br /][br /]Stern said there is no limit to how many coupons that customers can accumulate.[br /][br /][iframe SRC="https://mapsengine.google.com/map/embed?mid=zEDUwCfh8WcQ.k7d46MpiFKLU" HEIGHTSMALL="200" HEIGHTMEDIUM="300" HEIGHTLARGE="500" /][br /][br /]"If you get four (stamps) on one and four on another, you'll be able to use five dollars off at each store," Stern said.[br /][br /]In addition to being a good deal for shoppers, the Thrift Shop Trail helps to promote the need for donations.[br /][br /]"So, it's not just about the shopping, it's also about the giving," Stern said.[br /][br /]Terry Pannick, of Pennies For Change Thrift Store, said the money raised for the non-profits through thrift stores is extremely important.[br /][br /]"That's the importance of a thrift store, because it's a continuous funding source," Pannick said.[br /][br /]For more information about the Thrift Shop Trail click http://events.triangle.com/eventx--138697_2264809--The-Scrap-Exchange-Holiday-Thrift-Shoppe-Trail--at--Scrap-Exchange.aspx" TARGET="new" REL=""]here.[br /][br /]Report a Typo
