Man killed in Christmas Eve fire identified

MOORE COUNTY, NC (WTVD) -- Firefighters found a man dead in a house fire in northern Moore County Christmas Eve.

It happened in the 300 block of Mack Road - in the Westmoore Community - just after 9:30 p.m.

The Westmoore Fire Chief told ABC11 the person who died was identified as 52-year-old Johnny Alan Reeder. The medical examiner will do an autopsy to determine Reeder's exact cause of death.

Officials said there was no evidence of a smoke detector in the house.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, but authorities believe it started in the kitchen.
