DURHAM (WTVD) -- Crews navigated two 115-year-old homes through the streets of Durham on Sunday.
The homes were moved from their original locations on Yancey Street into the Morehead Hill Historic District. They will both be renovated and put up for sale.
The move was very painstaking process. Crews had to remove power lines and other impediments as they traveled through the streets of Durham. There was a small delay when the truck got stuck just yards from the final resting spot due to the soft ground from overnight rain.
Despite the hardships, the home's owner says it was worth it to move the homes back to the Morehead Hill neighborhood they were originally part of before the Durham Freeway was built.
"That's a residential historic district, this is a commercial downtown area," says the owner, Gary Kueber. "I think the houses have a long-term preserved future in the residential neighborhood."
