GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Greensboro police responded to a fatal shooting at a massive party near North Carolina A&T University.

Police said about 300-400 people were at the Friday night party on Boyd Street. When officers responded to a second noise complaint, they said Timothy Armstrong began firing at the crowd.

Shawn Rorie, 26, was killed.

Police said Armstrong ignored their commands telling him to drop the gun, so an officer shot him. Armstrong was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, WGHP reports.

Armstrong has been charged with discharging a firearm in city limits and possession of a stolen firearm. Police are still looking for the murder suspect.

Neither the suspect nor the victim was an A&T student.

The officer that shot Armstrong is on administrative duty, which is standard in these cases.
