RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A Raleigh animal control officer responded to Alamance Drive in Raleigh earlier this month after reports that a raccoon appeared to be sick.

The animal was captured and later tested positive for rabies.

The raccoon came in contact with a dog but the owners said the dog was up to date on its rabies vaccination.

There were no reports of contact with people in the area.
