TARBORO (WTVD) -- The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office is investigating the deaths of a Tarboro couple.
The sheriff's office received a call Monday at 6:38 a.m. concerning a welfare check at a residence on NC Hwy 97 East. Once inside the residence, deputies discovered a woman's body in a bedroom. She appeared to have died as a result of gunshot wounds.
The woman's husband was found in another room with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The couple were identified as Annie Perry, 71, and Curtis Lee Perry, 72.
Evidence gathered by deputies indicates the case may be a murder-suicide. There were no signs of forced entry, nor were there any signs of a disturbance in the residence.
