2 men shot in Fayetteville argument, one dies

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- The Fayetteville Police Department is investigating an argument involving relatives that led to gunfire Monday evening. Police are searching for a suspect and are asking for help finding him.

Investigators said the argument was between 66-year-old Henry Mert Porter, 40-year-old Henry Mert Porter Jr., and 49-year-old David Soles in the 1000 block of Cedar Creek Road around 6:30 p.m.

Both of the Porters were shot during the altercation. The senior Porter was killed. Porter Jr. was being treated at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Soles was not wounded. He has been charged with second degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
