CARTHAGE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Eight people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning between Carthage and Whispering Pines.
The accident happened at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Niagara-Carthage Road and Farm Life School Road.
Four children and four adults were in the accident and firefighters had to use specialized rescue tools to remove a door to free the driver.
One adult female was flown to a trauma center.
The three other adults and two children were taken to FirstHealth Hospital in Pinehurst by ambulance. They are reported to have non-life threatening injuries.
Two of the children were transported by a family member in a private vehicle.
The road was closed to traffic for about an hour while emergency crews assisted the injured and cleared the wreckage.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
