DURHAM (WTVD) -- Crystal Mangum, the accuser in the Duke Lacrosse case, lost her appeal Tuesday.

She wanted a new trial for her murder conviction in 2013.

She was found guilty of killing her boyfriend, Reginald Daye.

Mangum has maintained that she stabbed Daye in self-defense during a heated argument in 2011.

The court of appeals found no errors in her trial.

Mangum was sentenced to nearly 18 years in prison.

In 2006, Mangum's false claims against the Duke players made national headlines, but the players were declared innocent after Mangum's story crumbled and her mental stability was questioned.

The Durham prosecutor who championed Mangum's case was disbarred.
