FALLS LAKE (WTVD) -- The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission says it has found an alligator spotted in Falls Lake and euthanized it.

Park rangers said they believe it was an exotic pet that someone released. The animal was about four feet long.

ABC11 first reported on the animal Sunday when fisherman Stephen Rhodes shared video of it with us. Rhodes said the gator went after his fishing lure and got snagged on it.

Officials said the lure was not attached to the gator when they captured it.
