Four men arrested in year-old Sanford murder

SANFORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- Authorities in Lee County have arrested four Wilmington men in connection with a year-old murder and home invasion.



Harley Joe Chavis, 20, Rodney Henry Mintz IV, 24, Anthony Derek Strickland, 21, and Emmanuel Edward Sanders, 28, are charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping in 45-year-old Anthony Wayne Giles's 2013 death.



Around 5:45 a.m. on Nov. 22, Giles's wife told deputies that a man broke into the couple's home on Hickory Nut Court in Sanford and announced "sheriff," while carrying an assault type rifle and demanding money.



Giles reported she gave the man what money was in the home and then she was tied up.

Her husband was shot and killed during the robbery.



All four men are currently being held in jail under no bond.



The case remains under investigation.
