Hundreds gather in Fayetteville to pray for, support troops
FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Hundreds gathered Friday night for a special time to pray for the city, our state, the country, and military families who are again are fearing what they may soon have to face.
There are whispers that some Fort Bragg troops are on alert for possible deployment to Syria. But the official word around the post is nothing has changed.

Nearly 500 faithful from area churches met Friday night in preparation for the prayer walk around Fayetteville on Saturday morning, and to pray for their neighbors and loved ones in uniform.
"We pray for our military, and we pray for the family of those, so I think we really need to keep that at the heart of what we are doing," resident Lee Obriant said. "Unity in our country and our community."
Each year thousands take part in this prayer walk, stopping to pray at government and law enforcement buildings. This year, many fear the US may be headed for another serious conflict.
As the world watches, believers here and across the country gear up for spiritual warfare.
"This is an important time, for us, we need to stand behind our military," Jeremy Wright, Prayer Walk organizer, said. "We just need to pray and I think that is very important for us right now."
Saturday morning, a prayer walk begins at 10 a.m. at Festival Park. Then later, thousands are expected to gather at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum to pray for our military and country.
