Pedestrian hit by car in Fayetteville dies

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Police say a person critically hurt Monday evening after stepping into the path of an oncoming vehicle has died.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of Gillespie Street near the Trade Street intersection.

The driver of the vehicle was not hurt.

Police said the dead man was 53-years-old, but did not identify him pending notification of next of kin.
