Snowball Express helps ease pain of military families
Snowball Express lands in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Dozens of military families returned home Wednesday night from an all-expense paid vacation to Dallas.

The trip was courtesy of the Snowball Express, a group dedicated to giving happy memories to military families of fallen soldiers. Since 2006, the group has been dedicated to giving these vacations to families of soldiers killed since 9/11.

"Nothing is going to heal or change anything, but at least they forget about things for a little while, forget about their loss," said Dutch Macomber, a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. The group makes a point to send off and welcome these families home every year.

"It's the holidays, we're missing our loved ones," said Tarika Morris, who lost someone close to her. She says the generosity of the Snowball Express is overwhelming. "You can't show enough gratitude."

The trips give the families a chance to make positive memories during the holidays and make friends with those in similar circumstances.

"I get to meet kids my own age who have gone through the same thing," Shatasheona Fayne said. "It gives me more comfort."
