CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) -- A UNC building was flooded by a water line break Sunday night.

"I was really caught off guard to see all of that water," said Carolina student Madison Corbett. "It's like a little mini flood."

Water was flowing down stairs, covering the sidewalk, and bubbling by a sewer drain near Greenlaw Hall. A faculty member said a pipe that keeps the building cool and enables the air-conditioning to run broke.

The building was immediately evacuated and closed. Throughout the evening, crews were inside cleaning.

School is closed Monday for the holiday. Tuesday, students like Corbett will head back to class.

"I have class there this week and I have a lot of classes there, so the last thing I want is for the building to be shut down and I definitely don't want there to be limitations on what we can do in the building," said Corbett.
