Wayne County man charged with murder

SEVEN SPRINGS, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Wayne County Sheriff's Department arrested a 55-year-old man for murder on Sunday morning.

Deputies said Craig Bernard Melvin, of Seven Springs, assaulted 49-year-old Morris Timothy Holmes at 113 Al Drive.

Deputies responded to the scene around 6 a.m. Holmes was taken to the Wayne Emergency Room where he was pronounced dead.

Melvin was arrested and charged with murder. He is being held without bond.
